Here are some pictures of a red squirrel eating nuts. There are not many red squirrels in England and I am not sure if you've ever seen one, so I thought I'll share these photos with you.
These squirrels live in a big park in a middle of Wroclaw, a city in Poland. They are used to people as many families come to the park to feed them. I had some walnuts in my pocket and I was offering them to squirrels in the park. In return I was able to watch them and take some pictures of these cute creatures.
The red squirrels are somewhat smaller than the gray squirrels. They have also longer tails. It is thought that the long tail helps the squirrel to balance and steer when jumping from tree to tree and running along branches and may keep the animal warm during sleep. I actually saw them jumping from tree to tree and I couldn't believe how fast they are.
If you look at the pictures you will see that they have also funny ears - very fluffy, like small paint brushes. They also have sharp, curved claws to enable them to climb and descend broad tree trunks, thin branches and even house walls. I've learned also that the red squirrel has the ability to swim.
I enjoyed my morning walk to the park and feeding the squirrels. Watching the animals in the nature is very nice and interesting. Do you like animals my dear Atria?
