We went to Midlands Garden Rail Show last Sunday. The show took place at the Warwickshire Exhibition centre where Anna works. Her Boss gave her some tickets, so Baba can see the exhibition. Anna does all the branding and design for all the exhibitions held at WEC, but she rarely visits shows when they are actually happening, so it was something new also for her. The Midlands Garden Rail Show is dedicated to large scale modellers and model engineers. Simply speaking it is about little steam, gas and coal fired locomotives built by the railway enthusiasts from scratch and set out on beautiful layouts. The event provides inspiration for those who are planning garden railway. Every year it attracts over 2000 visitors and this year we also had a chance to attend.
I didn’t know what to expect when I was going there but I have to say, both I and Baba enjoyed the show very much. There were many colorful little trains, some of them puffing a real steam out; beautiful surroundings and fine details on the layouts. When I was a boy I had a small train running on the small railway, which at that time was a dream toy of every little boy, but in the comparison to the locomotives I have seen at this exhibition it was very basic. These trains were very precise miniatures of the real trains. Baba liked the show and we came out of there with a lot of tools and some figures of little people we bought to remember this occasion.
Although trains are not a ‘girly thing’ but I think you would have enjoyed the show as well. I hope we can go there sometime together. For a time being I put some pictures for you here. I hope you like them dear Atria.
