have you ever seen 'Friends'? I guess you have, I think most of the people on this planet have, even such a movie ignorant as me. So 'Friends' is about a group of six friends living in the New York.
The key thing about them is that they are young people still working out how they are going to live their lives – what kind of relationship are they going to have, what kind of job, the difficulties of settling down. It's about becoming independent, becoming an adult and finding out what you want to be. It's something that young people can relate to. And obviously it's very funny. It's also not all sweet. This sitcom also shows the six main characters failing to succeed – and not just at relationships. At times they lost their jobs, struggled on low incomes and got stuck in careers they hated. That's how it is in real life.
They stayed friends throughout many difficulties in life, supported each other, had fun together and grew up as individual people. The importance of friendship and 'sticking' together for better and worst is one of the key messages I like about this sitcom.
Do you have a group of friends you like spending time with? Or maybe you have just one or two best friends and other friends and classmates that are not as close as your best friends? Do you have a favourite place you go out together like Central Perk Cafe in 'Friends'?
Do you remember 'Friends' favourite coffeehouse? it is called the Central Perk Café. During our Warner Bros Tour Baba and I visited a real set from 'Friends'. Actually we sat on the famous sofa at the Central Perk Café set. It was a really strange feeling to sit in the same place as the actors I've seen on TV. It was exciting.
In the first picture you can see us sitting on the sofa and just below is a snapshot from 'Friends' with the actors sitting on the same sofa.
