This photograph of desert perch has been taken by Husain Alfraid and it was one of the National Geographic's best shots this May. I really like it. I think the eyes of this eagle-owl look very fascinating and hypnotic while it scans the terrain. The bright yellow eyes are characteristic of the species. The birds are generally found in arid habitats of North Africa and the Middle East and are efficient nocturnal predators—even scorpions are on its menu.
