I was gladdened to receive news of how you are doing at school. I never had seen an 8th grade school report in my life and could not fully comprehend it. I gathered from your mother's letter that you are working specially hard to improve your Maths, well done and keep up the good work.
I also very much enjoyed seeing a picture of you that was not darkened, it was the best picture of you I received since we were seperated.
Please thank your mum on my behalf for taking such a nice picture of you and for her kind informative letter telling me how my little daughter is doing.
Over a year ago I've shown one of the darkened pictures of you to my late mother, your grandmother (MadarJan), While she was still in America. This was the only picture of you she had seen, except for the darkened picture I've shown her over two years ago as she was being taken to the operating theatre.
When she saw your photograph she broke into tears uncontrollably and between her sobs she said that you look like Shideh, your Aunt, my late sister.
Unfortunately my sister died in a tragic accident when she was only in her teens. Over 30 years ago Shideh (your Aunt) and Maman Gol (your great grandmother) were traveling by a plane which crashed. The whole family was left devastated.
Your resemblance to Shideh made MadarJan very emotional.
