Dear Atria, I hope you had a nice and enjoyable Christmas, are rested and all ready to start school again. The little angel I have sent you together with your Christmas card is hand made by Celina Wandas of Pracownia Ceramiczna 'Angel' from Krakow. I got this angel direct from the artist and I myself wrote the message on the little heart. I asked the artist to write her name on a piece of paper and sign it for you. There are different legends about Christmas tree and the Christmas angel and no one knows for sure which one is closer to true fact. One such legend has it that in winter of 1536 one night Martin Luther went for a walk in forest and was inspired by the wondrous sight of thousands of stars shining trough the branches of the fir trees. Legend continues that he, that year, took a small fir tree to his house and decorated it with candles and shiny objects to recreate that beautiful heavenly view for his children. Some believe this was the first Christmas tree decorated inside the house A different legend has it that in December of year 1800 Queen Charlotte, the German wife of King George III set up the first known English Christmas tree at Queen"s Lodge in Windsor or Kew Palace. She decorated her royal tree with shining glass ornaments, glowing wax candles, sweets, fruits, small jewellery, toys, presents and an angel.
