Do you remember Whiskey, Anna's cat Atria? Today he celebrated his 8th Birthday and crazy Anna organised a little 'pawrty' for him! He had a card, cake, flowers and a gift. He also received a lot of Birthday wishes from his furry friends on Instagram @whiskey_ginger_cat I would say that's a better treatment than I get on my Birthdays :-)
I am sending you my warmest wishes; as always I am thinking of you at Christmas.
Wishing you and your Family a wonderful festive season blessed with love, joy, peace, and hope.
your dad Farshid
I know that the package I sent you this year has been received, and by now you must have opened it and see the contents, so I am not spoiling a surprise for you. I hope you will like gifts I chose for you. Have an enjoyable Christmas dear Atria.
This year we started a new tradition, a reverse advent calendar. For the past 24 days we filled a medium box with food and toiletries by adding an item each day. You can see the result in the picture. Well, minus the Rabbit - he is helping us to commemorate your step-brother Leo and inspires us to do more, contribute more, be more helpful and spread love. He is our Rabbit :-) Today we donated the rest of the content of the box to our local food bank in order to help those less fortunate that are struggling at Christmas time.
By sharing our reverse advent calendar here, I am hoping to inspire you to take part and make a small difference to those most vulnerable in your local community.
Have a great Christmas Atria and open your heart to others.
Today I took part in a very joyful event and I was one of over 1,000 Santas dashing through Leamington Spa :-) Well, I didn’t actually run the 5K race myself (unfortunately wouldn’t be able to do it), but I was there supporting and cheering for those who did.
Santa Dash is an annual event organised by Myton Hospices, a Charity that in their inpatient units provide free care for terminally ill people and in their day hospices offer a wide range of on-going support that complements the treatment. Hospices are staffed by trained nurses, healthcare support workers and volunteers. If you are interested to find out more about Myton Hospices’ great work and a huge difference they’ve been making to so many lives, visit their website.
For me Santa Dash was the perfect way to kick start Christmas, enjoy festive atmosphere and music, and in the same time contribute to a good cause.
Would you like to join me next year and start your festive season same way Atria?
Today I attended my first Christmas party of this festive season. I very much enjoyed time spent with my close friends chatting, eating, playing board games and being silly together. We all wore Christmas jumpers and we felt very festive.
I hope that you are blessed with wonderful friends with whom you can share many beautiful moments and create unforgettable memories during this festive season. Have an amazing time Atria.
Today I attended Leamington Christmas lights switch-on. Although the evening was very cold, the town centre was packed with families eager to enjoy a wonderful festive atmosphere with live music, Christmas market and fair. I was happy to attend this joyful event. I really like when the lights grace Leamington as they add a little bit of a festive magic to our everyday life.
Do you like Christmas lights Atria?
Today we visited one of the National Trust's treasures, Coughton Court, an English Tudor country house near Alcester. Since 1409 this interesting historical mansion has been a home to the Throckmortons, one of the UK's oldest catholic families. It is a massive mansion that would suit a really large family. To my surprise, I've learned that till October 2017 it was occupied by just one person, baroness Clare McLaren-Throckmorton.
I was not only intrigued by the history of the Throckmorton family associated with Walter Raleigh and Guy Fawkes, but I also liked the architecture of the house and its spectacular gardens. We spent a pleasant couple of hours walking around the grounds and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We took a lot of pictures and below is a selection for you to enjoy and perhaps encourage you to visit this beautiful country house yourself.
Today we honoured a beautiful Polish tradition and we celebrated All Saints' Day. It's a day to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. On the 1st November families all over Poland make pilgrimages to the resting places of their relatives, tending the graves and decorating them with wreaths, flowers and candles. As night descends cemeteries across the country are alight with millions of candles
We went to our local cemetery and lit candles in memory of Leo, Maman, Tato, Shideh, Omeh, Connie, Zanamoo and all the other deceased family members and friends. They are no longer with us, but they live on in our hearts and souls. They will always be a part of us, because they helped us to become who we are.
We do not have to rely on memories to recapture the spirit of those we have loved and lost – they live within our souls in some perfect sanctuary which even death cannot destroy.
By now you would have collected your GSCE's results and I hope you are pleased with your grades. Your Mum mentioned that you studied very hard preparing for the exams, so whatever the outcome, you should be proud of yourself. Are you planning to go to college and university? Do you already know what would you like to do in future, what career you want to peruse?
Remember that you are a bright, young, intelligent woman and the whole world with its endless possibilities and exciting opportunities is open right in front of you; you can do whatever you choose and you can be whoever you want to be. Follow your heart and make choice that makes you happy. That's all I want for you - to be happy.
I hope your day is filled with wonderful things. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday.
This year I chose for you something to help you celebrate unforgettable moments, express your individuality and aspire to be better. I hope it will be the start of your own collection of charms celebrating many wonderful life events, experiences and people who love you. The first charm for your bracelet is a reminder that you are and you always will be my daughter, I am your dad and I love you.
I saw that you already collected your gift from the post office in Woking on the 14th of June. I sent it a bit earlier to ensure it reaches you in time for your celebrations. I hope you like it.
Happy Birthday Atria
I recently received a letter from your Mother describing you as a very intelligent, beautiful young girl focused on her education. I am very proud of the person you grew up to be.
With love, your dad Farshid
Easter is perceived as a happy day, wherein according to the Christian religion, the world was saved by Jesus Christ sacrifice himself for the sins of humanity and it’s a day when you give your wishes to your loved ones.
I wish you and your family all the joy and wonder this holiday brings, always good health, love, kindness and optimistic, curious and free spirit. Happy Easter!
This is Baba with his Haft Seen he made this year. He was given a klapping ovation from his friends when he got on the minivan that takes him to the centre every day. All his friends and people who work at the centre appreciated his effort. His creation was put on display for everyone to admire and Baba was very happy and proud of himself.
Baba's Haft Seen consisted of:
The basket was also decorated with colourful eggs and flowers. All in all it looks lovely and most importantly it made Baba very happy.
Another year is ending and Nowruz 1397 is only days away. I wish for you another year of success and joy, and happiness.
I do not know your taste of clothing, but I hope the handbag I chose for you, be to your liking. It has Faravahar on one side, and on the other side there is a picture from Persopolis, showing the Persian King being offered a gift.
I thought it will be a nice present and a reminder of your Iranian heritage.
this year on Women’s Day I wish you a lot of self-confidence, ability to embrace everything that makes you unique, believe in yourself, perseverance and self-discipline in purseing your dreams, and kindness towards yourself and others. I would wish for you grow up to be a strong, confident, warm and loving woman.
“To all the little girls who are watching, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
Dear Atria, I had a bit of a rough start of the Christmas Day, but finally about 10am, I got out of the bed and opened my Christmas gifts. It’s not so much about the presents, but about knowing that people around me care enough to write a card, make an effort and choose something for me and share with me.
I hope you had a lovely morning today and you enjoyed unwrapping your gifts. I also hope you like what I’ve chosen for you. I thought everyone likes a cozy pyjamas :-)
Wishing you a very joyful festive season. I will be thinking of you during the Christmas dinner and I hope some day we can sit by the same table and share it together. Merry Christmas Atria!
The words below are not mine, but I want to share them with you as they convey simple, yet difficult to comprehend and implement in life, true. I do hope you will give them some consideration and thought.
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough, and we'll be more content when they are.
“This life will go by fast.
Don't fight with people, don't criticize your body so much, don't complain so much.
Don't lose sleep over your bills. Look for the person that makes you happy. If you make a mistake, let it go and keep seeking your happiness.
Never stop being a good parent. Don't worry so much about buying luxuries and comforts for your home, and don't kill yourself trying to leave an inheritance for your family. Those benefits should be earned by each person, so don't dedicate yourself to accumulating money.
Enjoy, travel, enjoy your journeys, see new places, give yourself the pleasures you deserve. Allow dogs to get closer. Don't put away the fine glassware. Utilize the new dinnerware; don't save your favorite perfume, use it to go out with yourself; wear out your favorite sport shoes; repeat your favorite clothes.
So what? That's not bad. Why not now? Why not pray now instead of waiting until before you sleep? Why not call now? Why not forgive now? We wait so long for Christmas; for Friday; for Reunions; for another year; for when I have money; for love to come; when everything is perfect...look...
Everything perfect doesn't exist. Human beings can't accomplish this because it simply was not intended to be completed here. Here is an opportunity to learn.
So take this challenge that is life and do it now...love more, forgive more, embrace more, love more intensely and leave the rest in God's hands. Amen.”
Happy Halloween Atria! I am not sure if the girls of your age still go trick-or-treating, but you certainly may be going to a Halloween party. I would be interested to know what is your costume? I can't remember attending any of Halloween parties myself, but I suppose you owe to chose something scary, so I would probably chose to be a Dracula or a Wizzard.
Traditionally, like almost every year I carved a pumpkin which you can see in the photograph above. Can you guess what it is? Well... it's a Were-rabbit ;-)
Happy Halloween again, enjoy, whatever you're doing today.
Do you do any sports Atria? I hope you do as it not only helps you to keep fit and healthy but also increases your self-worth, builds up confidence, provides a sense of achievement and aids mental well-being. You don't need to be a professional football player or run a marathon, but a bit of exercise in every day life can give you all the benefits without feeling pressured. No matter what's your ability, you can do it.
I recently came across a brilliant This Girl Can campaign. It celebrates the girls/women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get. They’re there to inspire other girls to wiggle, jiggle, move and prove that judgement is a barrier that can be overcome.
Below is an advert from This Girl Can campaign. Maybe it will inspire you to get active?
I am your dad Atria.
